Standing seam or exposed-fastener panels?
Standing seam panels have raised seams with concealed attachments for a cleaner, uninterrupted appearance. Exposed-fastener panels have visible screws and are often the lower-cost option for straightforward roof shapes. Standing seam typically costs more because of its attachment details and installation work; the roof-specific estimate explains the difference without guessing a price.
Metal roofs for homes, barns and outbuildings
We install both panel types on homes, barns, sheds, garages and outbuildings. The roof pitch, supporting deck or framing, ventilation and use of the building all matter. A house and an unconditioned shed can need different details even when their roofs look similar.
Metal over shingles or a full tear-off?
The right choice is decided at the inspection. Existing layers, deck condition, weight, moisture and the panel system requirements need to be checked before considering metal over shingles. Tear-off allows the deck to be inspected directly and may be necessary when damage or unsuitable layers are present.
Hail, wind and long-term care
Metal roofing can shed rain and withstand everyday weather when its panels, attachments and flashing are correctly installed. Strong hail can still dent panels, and high winds can damage poorly secured edges. No roof is storm-proof; after severe weather, an inspection can identify loose attachments, damaged flashing or changes in the panel surface.
